Build training programs from modules

Admin

A training program groups multiple modules together so you can assign them as a single unit. For example, you might create a "New Volunteer Onboarding" program that includes a food safety module, a cash handling module, and an organization policies module.

Open the Training Programs Page

  1. In the top navigation, open the Admin section.
  2. Click Training Programs.

You will see a table listing all programs with columns for Title, Status, Modules (count), and Actions.

Create a New Program

  1. Click the New Program button.
  2. Fill in the program details:
    • Title -- a clear name like "Spring Season Onboarding" or "Food Safety Certification."
    • Description -- an optional summary explaining what the program covers and who it is for.

Add Modules to the Program

Below the title and description fields, you will see two panels:

  • Available Modules (left) -- all active modules that are not yet in this program. Use the search box to filter by name.
  • Selected Modules (right) -- the modules currently in the program, shown in order.

To add a module, click it in the Available list. It moves to the Selected list.

Reorder Modules

The order of modules determines the sequence learners see. Use the up arrow and down arrow buttons next to each selected module to rearrange them.

tip

Put foundational content first. For example, put "Organization Policies" before "Cash Handling Procedures" so new volunteers get context before diving into specifics.

Remove a Module

Click the remove button next to any selected module to take it out of the program.

Save the Program

Click Save. The program is created and set to Active by default.

note

You must select at least one module before saving. StandShare will show an error if you try to save an empty program.

Edit an Existing Program

  1. Click the program title or the Edit link in the table.
  2. Update the title, description, or module list.
  3. Click Save.

Activate or Deactivate a Program

In the program editor, toggle the Active status:

  • Active -- the program can be assigned to users.
  • Inactive (Archived) -- the program cannot be assigned, but existing assignments are preserved.

How Programs and Modules Relate

  • A single module can belong to multiple programs.
  • Archiving a module does not automatically remove it from programs, but learners will not be able to access archived modules within a program.
  • Learners must complete every module in a program (in any order) to be marked as having completed the program.
