Clone an event

Cloning an event copies its stand layout and settings to a new date in seconds. It is faster than creating a new event from scratch when you have a one-off game that does not fit a saved template, or when you want to repeat a specific past event exactly.

If you find yourself cloning the same event repeatedly, consider saving it as a template instead — templates support bulk generation across an entire season.

What Clones and What Resets

FieldBehavior
Event nameCopied (you can change it in the clone modal)
VenueCopied
Per-person rateCopied
Max workersCopied
Waitlist settingCopied
Fund distribution settingCopied
NotesCopied
Stand numbersCopied — each stand is re-created on the new event
DateReset — you must provide a new date

Worker assignmentsNot copied — the new event starts with no roster

SettlementNot copied — the new event has no settlement state

The clone is a fresh event with the same structure. All scheduling, staffing, and financial work for the new event starts from zero.

Clone an Event

  1. Navigate to Events from the main sidebar.
  2. Find the event you want to copy.
  3. In the event's row, open the Actions menu (the icon at the far right of the row).
  4. Click Clone Event.
  5. In the Clone Event dialog:
    • Date (required) — enter the date for the new event.
    • Name (optional) — change the name if needed. If left blank, the new event keeps the original event's name.
  6. Click Clone Event to confirm.

The new event appears immediately in the Events list with status Upcoming.

tip

After cloning, open the new event to set signup windows, adjust capacity, or add workers. The clone does not carry over any signup configuration from the original.

Permissions

Cloning an event requires the event_management.manage_roster permission. This permission is included in the Admin and Coordinator roles by default. See the Permission Matrix for details.

Differences Between Clone and Template

Both clone and template generate a new event from an existing configuration. Choose based on your situation:

SituationUse
One-off repeat of a specific past eventClone
Generating 10+ events at the start of a seasonTemplate
Capturing a standard setup for a venue you use regularlyTemplate
You need to adjust the name for just one new eventClone
