Set up the family fundraising leaderboard

Admin

The Family Leaderboard is a fun way to recognize and motivate families in your organization. It ranks families based on their event participation, earnings, and attendance, creating friendly competition that encourages volunteering.

Accessing the Leaderboard

Families can view the leaderboard from the sidebar by going to Leaderboard. Administrators can configure leaderboard settings from the admin branding and settings pages.

How the Leaderboard Works

The leaderboard displays a ranked list of families with these columns:

  • Rank -- The family's position on the leaderboard. The top three positions are highlighted with medal icons (gold, silver, and bronze).
  • Family -- The family name. Your own family is highlighted in blue with a "(You)" indicator.
  • Events Worked -- The total number of events the family has participated in.
  • Total Earnings -- The cumulative amount earned across all events.
  • Attendance -- The attendance rate shown as a color-coded percentage badge:
    • Green (90% or above)
    • Yellow (70-89%)
    • Red (below 70%)

Your Family Highlight

At the top of the leaderboard, a highlighted card shows your own family's current rank, events worked, total earnings, and attendance rate. This gives you a quick snapshot of where you stand without scrolling through the full list.

Ranking Criteria

Families can sort the leaderboard by three different criteria using the toggle at the top of the page:

  • Events Worked -- Ranks families by total number of events participated in. This is the default view.
  • Total Earnings -- Ranks families by cumulative earnings from all events.
  • Attendance Rate -- Ranks families by their percentage of attended vs. assigned events.

Families choose their own view -- switching the sort only changes their personal display, not what others see.

Leaderboard Visibility

The leaderboard can be shown or hidden for your organization using the branding and page configuration settings. If you want to disable the leaderboard:

  1. Go to Settings in the admin sidebar.
  2. Open the Branding or Page Configuration section.
  3. Toggle the leaderboard page off.

When the leaderboard is disabled, it will not appear in the sidebar for any user in your organization.

How Rankings Are Calculated

Rankings are calculated server-side based on actual event data:

  • Events Worked counts only events where the family had at least one worker who attended.
  • Total Earnings sums all earnings credited to the family's account across all events.
  • Attendance Rate divides the number of events attended by the total number of assignments.

Rankings update automatically as events are settled and attendance is recorded. There is no manual step required.

Tips for Encouraging Participation

  • Announce the leaderboard -- Let families know it exists and how it works during onboarding or at the start of a season.
  • Recognize top families -- Call out the top three families at meetings or in announcements.
  • Use it alongside performance data -- The leaderboard shows the positive side of participation, while the Worker Performance Dashboard helps you identify families who may need support.
  • Keep it fair -- The leaderboard automatically accounts for family size and opportunity. Families who sign up for more events naturally rank higher, which rewards initiative.
  • Consider seasonal resets -- If your organization runs events in seasons, you may want to highlight "season leaders" in your announcements.

Tips

  • The leaderboard works best when most families are actively participating in events. If only a few families are active, the leaderboard may not feel very competitive.
  • Families can only see the leaderboard if they are logged in. It is not visible on the public landing page.
  • All financial amounts on the leaderboard are display-only. Families cannot modify their earnings from this page.
